So much to do, so little time...

I came into this semester thinking 8 weeks was going to be such a long time to be in London, but time is flying and I'm wanting it to slow down! I realized today that I had intended to update this blog after last weekend, and now it's almost Friday again and I don't know where the time went.

Last weekend was fairly chill. We toured the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey on Friday. All I can say there is that London has some brutal history. But fascinating! But most importantly, the architecture is so pretty. On Saturday, I literally sat in Russell Square park for 6 hours in the sun doing homework. It needed to get done, and sitting in a beautiful park on a sunny day wasn't a bad way to get some reading done.

Most of my time is occupied with classes/homework and my internship. Classes are much more time consuming than I thought they would be, proving to be more of a challenge to keep up with the readings, but it's worth it in the end! We had to read The Three Sisters for my theatre class and then went to go see the play on Monday evening. An honest review: boring as a play could ever possibly be. But it makes me a little more cultured to say I've read and seen a Chekhov play. But I wouldn't recommend to the average person.

In my pop culture class Monday, we went to the V&A museum and it was absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend to the average person. Our class went specifically to see the Mary Quant exhibit which was so cool to see how fashion changed so drastically in the 60's. But afterwards we were free to explore the rest of the museum as we wished. So a couple friends and I went on the hunt for a few things. First up was Da Vinci's notebook. It was so tiny!! We definitely would have missed it if we didn't ask where it was, but it was so fascinating to see. Next, we wanted to see Shakespeare's first folio, which also took some digging, but we ended up finding it right next to one of Elton John's outfits. Pretty cool.

So in my film adaptations class, we had to read The Thirty-Nine Steps before class, discussed how it could be adapted today, and we'll be watching Hitchcock's version during next weeks class. For our outing, we'll be going to the cinema to see the movie Booksmart at Picturehouse Central this evening, so I'm looking forward to that.

Week 2 and my internship is still going really well! I like the team of people I'm working with and I get to do some interesting work too. Of course, there's the boring filling out spreadsheets and all that, but someone has to do it obviously, that's just part of running a business. But I'm extra excited for a project that we just started working on this week. We're going to produce a video advertising their green screen studio. I wrote the script for it yesterday and we went over and finalized the idea today. But I'm stoked for the opportunity to work on this with them! Another cool thing I got to do with my internship this week was go to a press screening for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While the movie was certainly entertaining and visually impressive (I mean come on, it's monsters fighting monsters, it's pretty fun to watch), the plot and characters themselves were pretty underwhelming. But still a super fun experience! Some of the actors came and talked before the movie started which was also pretty cool.

Also, side note, walking home from my internship today I had the best burger I've ever had in my life. Dramatic? Maybe. But it was a damn good burger. I just kind of wandered into this food market on a side street after smelling something really good, found myself at a burger stand, and the rest is history. My stomach wasn't thanking me after eating it, but it was well worth it. One thing I've found is that the best food here is the street food, and luckily, there's markets all over the place! Also pictured below is some really amazing steak I got from a market over rosemary fries and a very good sauce (that I still have no idea what exactly it was). 10/10 recommend market food.

Well tomorrow morning I'm headed with the group to Edinburgh, Scotland. Hope to update after that! Enjoy some pictures from the past week below 😊

I’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather, it’s only really rained like 3 days in the past 2 and a half weeks, and that was fleeting too!

What fun! Sounds like the London I remember -- but what's up with the sun? I don't remember that part....
